Sometimes when life gets busy we just seem to overlook things. I didn't think it was possible but problems with my PC, which are still not resolved, led to me totally getting out of the groove and neglecting both this site and Reusable Art. No posts or new pictures during the entire month of May? That didn't seem possible until I checked my notes.
In response to that unhappy discovery, I decided to really push hard this month to get at least 70 new pictures up. (My typical goal is 35 new free vintage images a month.) I got my groove back, as the saying goes, and ended up adding 88 new images.
In the course of adding all of those new
free vintage images to
Reusable Art, I also added four new categories.
Free Vintage Portraits

Some time ago, someone asked if I could create a portraits category.
While there is only one portrait now (another problem related to my sick PC), it can be viewed
Historical Portraits.
So, if anyone is looking for a free image of a US general during the early-to-mid 1800s, this is a nice one.
Free Drawings of Women

Thanks to the talented artist Edmund H. Garrett (1853-1929), the
Free Images of Beautiful Women has a nice selection of free vintage images. His works are more portrait-like than illustrations and all convey different emotions.
Most of Garrett's portraits are of young women wearing white. The portraits are so lovely, it seems they must be of real people but there was no indication of who they were which adds a bit of mystery to each of the images in this category.
The new images in this category are all around 372 pixels wide by 530 pixels tall.
Mythological Images

June also brought a number of images to the
Mythology category. The
Greek and
Roman mythology categories saw a long-overdue update with several new images.
I also found a number of
copyright free mythology images that were for mythological beings and creatures that were featured in more than one culture's folklore or were not in the big three - Greek, Roman and Norse.
My favorite of the group is of this beautiful mermaid trying to fit a pair of shoes onto the tip of her tail.
All of the new mythology images are pencil-like drawings from Oliver Herford. The images are all around 500px square.
Fishing Images

The fourth new category that was added to Reusable Art last month contains
free fishing images. The fishing lure image shown here is 200 pixels wide and 100 tall.
There are a number of serene water-side images of fishermen and a fun collection of images depicting the proverbial story of the one that got away.
