It's amazing how time can get away from you if you let it. I had every intention of posting a new picture on every Friday. After all, how hard could it be to sit down and write something about just one of the thousands of pictures on
Reusable Art each week?
Somehow, two months have passed me by without talking about one of the great vintage images I get to play with. Since, it's been so long, I'll take a small liberty by showcasing an image that's been on Reusable Art for a while but still remains one of my favorites.
Recent weeks have led to the addition of several new
vintage swan images but this unattributed illustration remains my favorite in the category. This free
downloadable swan image is 315px wide by 175px tall. It looks more like an acrylic painting than a vintage book illustration which is perhaps why I like it so much.
It was published in
Stories of Whitminster back in 1873 by the publishing firm of William P. Nimmo of Edinburgh. I haven't been able to find any information about Mr. Nimmo other than other works he published and a humorous Google result that invited me to "contact William P. Nimmo" at some genealogical website.
As always, if you happen to use this image in your own creative endeavors, I would love to see a picture of your work.
